I’m always skeptical about the value of attending these events. And especially since we became independent; every penny counts and it’s really important that Oxygen feels ‘the value’ in attending – be that meeting prospective new clients, making industry connections or personal development. And this one did feel different. The speakers were next level, it was a slick production for the most part, and there were varied topics, a range of exhibitors and a feeling that these conversations might actually lead to getting something done and sparking progress.
My personal highlights:
- seeing Deborah Meaden speak. I hadn’t realised she was known as ‘The Green Dragon’ and hearing her talk about sustainability with a business lens really gave me conviction that what we are doing with Oxygen is the right thing, and that continuing to be as vocal as we are about digital sustainability and design for good, has a positive impact on our planet. It was something I came away feeling proud about
- seeing old and meeting new faces. Predictable maybe, but the connections made at Blue Earth felt relevant, authentic and optimistic for partnerships or support in the future. All in the name of doing good things for our planet
- seeing Chris Boardman speak. One of my dad’s heroes; hearing what he has done and continues to do for sport in terms of bringing environmental strategies to the fore was inspirational
For me one message stood out; we’re finally moving from climate talk to climate action. At this summit, action felt possible with partnerships, innovation and purpose driving the next step in sustainability.
