Supporting Oxfordshire’s people and places to work together and thrive

Mockup of CFO brand guidelines

The Project

Community First Oxfordshire is a community development and placemaking charity, offering services that support people and places across the county. Community First Oxfordshire were ready for a refresh of their visual identity – something that better reflected the dynamism of their work and the breadth of their impact. We partnered with them to deliver a rebrand and build a new, low-carbon website that brings their mission to life online.

What we did

We began by immersing ourselves in Community First Oxfordshire’s mission and the communities they serve. Drawing inspiration from Oxfordshire’s people and its richly varied landscapes, we developed a fresh visual identity that feels vibrant, grounded, and inclusive. Inspired by Oxfordshire’s countryside and community spaces, we created a lively, earthy colour palette to reflect the charity’s connection to place and people, and designed a suite of bespoke icons to represent their services clearly and consistently. We designed a cohesive set of branded materials for internal and external use.

The new website was designed and developed with clarity, sustainability, and accessibility at its core. We built a streamlined, low-carbon site that performs efficiently without compromising on design or user experience. The navigation was completely restructured to make journeys through the site more intuitive, helping users find key information quickly and easily.

One of the major shifts was in how content was delivered. Rather than relying heavily on embedded PDFs, which were difficult to navigate and poor for SEO, we translated this information into accessible, on-page copy. This change not only improved search engine visibility but also made the site far more user-friendly, especially for those accessing it on mobile devices or using assistive technologies.

Oxygen has been fantastic. Our website has already had great feedback (one week in), and is so much more user friendly than before. Our staff are happy with the new website and design, and Oxygen were really flexible in when and what they shared to wider stakeholders during the design process, presenting all their content clearly and with good rational when needed. This made it easy for us to keep everyone in the loop during the design process without having too many revision stages.

Accessible design

For this project, Oxygen debuted our partnership with MyVision Oxfordshire, helping to develop their Website Testing program with users with vision loss, whilst also ensuring the website provided as accessible an experience for users as possible.

We ensured that content, colour contrast, interactive elements, and layout all supported an inclusive digital experience, enabling the Community First Oxfordshire team to reach and serve a wider, more diverse audience.

The final result is a clean, efficient, and accessible platform that amplifies Community First Oxfordshire’s impact and reflects the strength and clarity of their new brand.

Visit the website

Oxygen's staff are clearly experienced and brought together the brand identity and website together really nicely. The behind the scenes of the website is also designed well to make it easy to change and add things to the website whilst maintaining the same 'feel' - important for a charity which doesn't have any internal website experts! We now feel able to celebrate our website and share it widely as the main resource about our charity.
